and Thinking Beyond Blocking Assumptions

Success and experience can sometimes blind us to new possibilities. The more we know about an area of expertise, the less likely we are to see opposite ways of looking at it. Culturally, we are conditioned to solve problems individually and compete for solutions. In this module, participants are presented with a challenging exercise that reveals the benefits of using the wisdom of others to come up with solutions. (Approx. 60 min.)

GOALS
1. Experience a brief activity which will surface some common blocking assumptions.
2. Explore the roots of our assumptions and ways they limit our performance.
3. Become aware how often blocking assumptions limit our productivity, creativity, and teamwork.

The Facilitator will need to provide the following for this module:

" Overhead projector (to demonstrate puzzle solutions to a group larger than 10 people).
Five-piece puzzles
